"The Petition is the document, which is submitted to the Public Regualtion Commission by NeuStar and the telephone industry to initiate the case before the PRC." The petition contains a description of the process that NeuStar and the telephone industry used to come to consensus on the recommended alternative for adding a new area code for New Mexico.

The Petition describes the recommended alternatives, and how they would be implemented.  It also explains why it is necessary to add a new area code for New Mexico at this time.
